Fall 2008: Adventures of Kenny, Daniel, Jacob: "The Crew" :-)

Jacob's 1976 CB750F Super SportLets travel back in time over 30 years. I'm talking about '73-'76 Honda Motorcycles, some of the very first sport bikes, which set the market and set the stage for the superbikes of today. After getting our motorcycle drivers licenses in August, we have finally all gotten motorcycles. Kenny has a '75 Honda CB750K, Daniel has a '73 Honda CB 750K, Jacob has a '76 CB 750F SS, Noah has a '73 CB 750K, and Hilary will soon have a '75 CB 350. As with most vehicles more than 30 years old, they have all needed a fair amount of TLC and maintenance. Jacob spend his winter break either working on his bike or working to pay for his bike. He was mostly succesful in both endeavors, and get it licensed and insured at the beginning of January 2009.

August 30 2008: The Neal Boys™ Get Endorsed

After a warm weekend practicing on the range, Kenny, Daniel, Jacob, Noah H-C. and Hilary M. all satisfactorily passed the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Basic Rider Course and got their M endorsements from DMV. We took the class through Albemarle's Open Doors program, and it was a great experience. For around $95, you can take the class, I would highly recommend it to anyone even remotely interested in motorcycles--Descriptionthe instructors are top notch (Rodney, x, and y)! You learn a lot about motorcycles, safety and why the statistics are so bad. You can see available class dates and register here, the class consists of a Friday night classroom session, and then two half days on Saturday and Sunday learning how to ride a motorcycle on the range (you can choose between morning or afternoon). This part is a lot of fun! While you do have to take a written test and pass a driving skills test (if you do well throughout the course, you will be fine) you get to avoid taking the written DMV test or going through their driving test--which you have to provide a motorcycle for. Not only can you avoid the DMV (mostly), you can get a discount on motorcycle insurance, which can easily pay for the class in a year.
